Machu Picchu (from Southern Quechua Machu Pikchu, meaning “Old Mountain”) is the contemporary name given to the ancient Andean settlement, built in the mid-15th century, on a rocky slope that joins the Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu mountains on the eastern slope of the Central Andes, in southern Peru, at an altitude of 2430 meters above sea level (altitude of its main square).
Pick-up from your hotel very early in the morning, we depart from the train station in the morning towards the majestic city of Machu Picchu. The travel time is approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes, during which we ascend to 3600 meters above sea level. Appreciating a diversity of natural landscapes according to the existing altitudinal zones, we descend through the Anta Valley, passing through Ollantaytambo until we arrive at the train station in the town of Aguas Calientes. It is in this town where we will take the buses to ascend to the Majestic Machu Picchu at an altitude of 2400 meters above sea level. We will begin the visit by observing the grandiose landscape that surrounds it, enhancing the beauty of its temples, shrines, enclosures, and staircases that connect the different levels on which the constructions stand. Machu Picchu is an exaltation of stone; the visiting time is 3 hours, at the end of which we will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes where visitors can have lunch (optional) and do some shopping. Finally, we will return to the city of Cusco where we will be waiting for you at the station to transfer you to the hotel.
