Machupicchu, considered among the 7 wonders of the world and the quintessential symbol of the Inca Empire, is known as the most famous trekking circuit in South America. The sacred Inca Trail, which led pilgrims of the time. The Machupicchu Inca Trail is undoubtedly the most picturesque trail in the world. One of the most important attractions of the trail is the cultural and natural scenery, as it has a great diversity of microclimates, which means that the flora and fauna offer an incredible quantity and variety of plant and animal species, including the kantu (Cantua buxifolia) and the spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus).
The most popular route starts at Km. 82 (Piskacucho) of the railway Cusco – Machupicchu 45 km. Until Machupicchu.
Along the route you can observe numerous streams and water courses of glacial origin and you can also appreciate 12 archaeological monuments; among them Qoriwayrachina, Patallaqta, Runkuraqay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, Intipata, Wiñayhuayna and Intipunku (Gate of the Sun, from where you can appreciate the citadel of Machupicchu).
ITINERARY
Pick up of the passengers from their respective lodging 6:00 am; in a private transport, after crossing the “Sacred Valley of the Incas” with direction to Km. 82 (Piscakucho), after passing the control, we will begin our walk that lasts approximately 5 hours in the course of the way we will visit the archaeological complex of Patallaqta, towards Tarayoc where we will have lunch, then we restart the walk towards our first camp in Huayllabamba (3,000 m.a.s.l.).
After breakfast, we will have an arduous walk of approximately 5 hours and a half until 4,215 m.a.s.l. to the pass of Warmihuañusca (pass of the dead woman) that comes to be the highest point of all the way and then we descend 2 hours and a half until the valley of Pacaymayu (3600 masl), where we will camp after 7 hours of walk.
This is the longest day but the most interesting and impressive of our trek, as we will walk along the original Inca trail between cloud forests and beautiful natural landscapes. We will appreciate archaeological complexes such as: Runcuraqay, Sayaqmarca, Phuyupatamarca, Intipata, Wiñaywayna, our campsite for this day is located at 2650 masl in Wiñaywayna.
We will wake up very early at 3:00 a.m. to have breakfast and then we will go to the Sun Gate or (IntiPunku) from where we will have a spectacular view of Machupicchu, Huaynapicchu and all the surrounding landscape that surrounds it, then we descend to the Inca city for a guided tour of approximately 2hrs. at the end of which you will have some additional hours to visit other places of interest such as the ascent to the mountain of Huaynapicchu (previous reservation and payment). In the afternoon we go by bus to Aguas Calientes from where we return by train to Ollantaytambo and by bus to Cusco, sometimes direct depending on the availability of spaces sold by Perurail.
NOTE: To reach the top of Huaynapicchu. – Permits are required and limited. Only a limited number of people can get there; please let your guides know at the briefing if this is a particular interest of yours and remind them on night 3 in order to better secure this possibility.
In this service you join a group of people from different countries, who make their reservation and it is the cheapest way to do it and it also gives you the opportunity to make new friends since the coexistence in the four days of trekking allows you to know the members of the group.
Group that is organized just for you since no other person is added, you have the advantage of proposing the date of entry to the Inca Trail, the size of the group, food, as well as your return, it also has included some additional services such as extra porter, and lunch in Aguas Calientes.
To get the discount you need to send us via email a copy of your ISIC (International Student Identity Card) within two days. Without this copy we will not be able to offer you the discount.
NOTE – It is necessary to make your reservations months in advance (7-8 months preferably) as the entity in charge of the Inca Trail sets a limit of 500 people per day, and when this amount is reached it is no longer possible to obtain entrance quotas.
