Your choice of this route will depend on the time you have available, as well as how experienced and confident you are in taking long hikes. The Mollepata route is more strenuous but not impossible because you walk twice as much. You will ascend higher (up to 5000 meters on your second day). Moreover, you will walk near the Salkantay mountain (6271 meters) along a route with magnificent scenery. This route is wonderful because it connects the Classic Inca Trail with Salkantay, arguably giving you the best of both trails, and you also encounter archaeological sites like Paucarcancha, the Inca canal, etc. If you are sure of your adaptability and can take your time to do it between May and October, it is the recommended choice.
